    * Scale-up of integrated HIV services had reached the following number of sites: * __751__ static and 225 outreach HIV testing sites * __732__ (static) ART sites; 627 of these started at least one pregnant or breastfeeding woman and 695 started asymptomatic patients (Test & Treat) this quarter * __655__ sites with HIV-exposed children in follow-up * __788,275__ persons were tested for HIV and received their results; __210,774 (27%)__ accessed HIV testing for the first time; __577,501 (73 %)__ were repeat testers and __37,401 (6%)__ of these received confirmatory testing (after having tested positive in the past). __32,987 (4%)__ clients received a positive result for the first time. * __22,895 (98%)__ of __23,454__ blood units collected were screened for (at least) HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis. * __149,150 (97%)__ of __153,817__ women at ANC had their HIV status ascertained; __11,436 (8%)__ of these were HIV positive. __126,297 (99%) of 129,217__ women at maternity had their HIV status ascertained __9,351 (7%)__ of these were HIV positive. * __30,221__ patients started ART this quarter; 70% of these were classified as asymptomatic / in WHO stage 1 and started under the new “Test & Treat” policy. * __679,056__ patients were alive and on ART by end of December 2016. This means that 69% of the estimated __979,000__ HIV positive population was on ART. 1 ART coverage was __66% (53,336 / 81,000)__ for children2 and __70% (625,689 / 898,000)__ for adults. * __47,389 (88%)__ of __53,886__ viral load results from routine monitoring were <1000 copies/ml. Viral suppression rates among children (0-14 years) and adults (15+ years) were 62% and 90%, respectively. * __76%__ of adults and __77%__ of children were retained alive on ART at 12 months after initiation. Actual retention rates are thought to be about 10% higher due to misclassification of ‘silent transfers’ as defaulters in clinic-based survival/retention analysis. (see section 15.4) * __588,620 (93%) __of __634,342__ patients on first line adult ART were on TDF/3TC/EFV. * __11,517 3 (85%)__ of an estimated __13,500__ HIV infected pregnant women in Malawi were on ART this quarter. __7,366 (64%)__ of these were already on ART when getting pregnant and 4,151 (36%) started ART during pregnancy/delivery. * An additional __1,110__ breastfeeding women started ART due to Option B+ (in WHO stage 1/2) * __78%, 70%, 63% and 63%__ of women started under Option B+ were retained on ART at 6, 12, 24 and 36 months after initiation, respectively. * __8,646 (7%)__ of infants discharged alive from maternity were known to be HIV exposed, __8,192 (95%)__ of these received ARV prophylaxis (nevirapine). __8,297 (96%)__ were enrolled in exposed child follow-up before age 2 months. * A total of __11,220__ HIV exposed children were newly enrolled for follow-up this quarter.
