  "notes": "This is the 5th quarterly HIV Program report after

implementation of the 2011 Integrated Clinical\r\nHIV Guidelines in 
            
27
July 2011. A summary of the key achievements between __July and 
            
28
September\r\n2012__ is provided below:\r\n\r\n* Scale-up of integrated 
            
29
HIV services had reached the following number of sites:\r\n\r\n     
            
30
810 static (607 within and 203 outside of health facilities) and 322 
            
31
outreach HTC sites\r\n\r\n     641 (static) ART sites\r\n\r\n     573 
            
32
PMTCT sites (Option B+)\r\n\r\n     562 Pre-ART sites\r\n\r\n     561 
            
33
sites with HIV-exposed child follow-up\r\n\r\n* 579,509 persons were 
            
34
tested and counselled for HIV and 44,916 (8%) were HIV 
            
35
positive;\r\n226,243 (39%) people tested for the first time. 268,119 
            
36
(46%) of all tests performed during\r\nthis quarter took place in 
            
37
August during the 2012 National HIV Testing Week campaign.\r\n\r\n* 
            
38
119,587 (76%) of 156,778 women at ANC had their HIV status 
            
39
ascertained; 9,837 (8%) of\r\nthese were HIV positive. 114,897 (87%) 
            
40
of 131,779 women at maternity had their HIV status\r\nascertained; 
            
41
9,491 (8%) of these were HIV positive.\r\n\r\n* 29,707 patients 
            
42
started ART during this quarter; this is an increase from the 
            
43
previous\r\nquarter (26,909) and meets the target of about 30,000 
            
44
patients to be initiated on ART per\r\nquarter under the 2011 
            
45
PMTCT/ART guidelines.\r\n\r\n* 391,338 patients were alive and on ART 
            
46
by end of September 2012. This exceeds the\r\nprojected number of ART 
            
47
patients (389,737) for this quarter by 1,601 (0.4%). 62,371 
            
48
(17%)\r\nof 362,754 on first line adult regimens were on ART regimen 
            
49
5A (tenofovir / lamivudine /\r\nefavirenz)\r\n\r\n* 83% of adults and 
            
50
84% of children were retained alive on ART at 12 months after 
            
51
ART\r\ninitiation.\r\n\r\n* A total of 10,588 HIV positive pregnant 
            
52
women were on ART: 2,614 (25%) of these were\r\nalready on ART when 
            
53
getting pregnant and 7,974 (75%) started ART 
            
54
during\r\npregnancy/delivery. 7,754 (97%) of those newly initiated 
            
55
started ART due to Option B+ (in\r\nWHO clinical stage 1 or 2) and 220 
            
56
(3%) due to a low CD4 count and/or WHO clinical stage 3\r\nor 
            
57
4.\r\n\r\n* An additional 2,689 breastfeeding women started ART due to 
            
58
Option B+ (in WHO clinical\r\nstage 1 or 2), bringing the total number 
            
59
started on ART under Option B+ to 10,663.\r\n\r\n* 83% and 79% of 
            
60
women started under Option B+ were retained at 6 and 12 month 
            
61
after\r\nART initiation, respectively.\r\n\r\n* 8,700 (8%) of infants 
            
62
discharged alive from maternity were known to be HIV exposed; 
            
63
8,109\r\n(93%) of these received ARV prophylaxis. 3,778 (43%) were 
            
64
enrolled in exposed child followup\r\nbefore age 2 months.\r\n\r\n*

8,490 HIV exposed children and 9,161 pre-ART patients enrolled for 
            
66
follow-up in HIV Care\r\nClinics (HCC) during this quarter.\r\n\r\n*

184 health workers were trained and certified in the new integrated

PMTCT/ART curriculum\r\nduring Q3 2012, bringing the total number

re-trained in the new guidelines to 4,839. An\r\nadditional 25 tutors
